The story is a tapestry woven on an Indigenous Loom full of bright colors that cast no shadow on complimentary adjacent threads. For they too are as bright and only reflect the beautifully woven Tapestry of Two Wolves, Heart Spirit Quest, journey. Visually painted threads with a quilled pen brush with adjectives and adverbs of many colors used as paints on a living tapestry. Creating a three-dimensional view of Earth and Sky, as seen and experienced by All Our Relations… recognizing our connection to all beings. Bread crumbs become a yellow brick road paved with stars. Two Wolves helps us to not only better understand, but have a better grip on the perception of the unknown and the unknowable!

The story is full of inspirational philosophical life teachings. The reader is given an opportunity to experience not only their own self-concepts and attempt to not judge themselves but forgive themselves. What is Truth? Anihcak queries, page 64, Heyoka, the Sacred Clown, helps us to understand our place on the Web of Life, and acknowledge that we are a part of the Web… as quoted by Chief Joseph, so many years ago. Truth is the interconnectedness of all Life, not just here on Earth but it extends to encompass the whole universe like Heart, Truth also has a spirit. This is another story. In the sacred dimension of our Heart Spirit, we come to realize and appreciate the meaning and depth of the Lakota saying, Mitakuye Oyasin, “All MY Relations”. So, as our Spirit fades away like a fading sunset, Our Heart Spirit can be one with the web, without shame! Aho.

This book takes on what is fast becoming the central psychological question of our time : What is the cause behind the staggering rise of mass murders in America? Beginning with a historical view of the phenomenon, the author slowly narrows his focus to examining the pressures of modern society, the inadequacy of a large percentage of the population to deal effectively with these pressures, the normalizing of violence through video games and popular films and something he calls the “fame entitlement” which when combined with the other factors enable mass murder to appear to be a viable option for those with even a slight form of mentally illness.

In America, since 2017, mass murder has become a “fight back fantasy” that frequently occurs as a possible last result for many who struggle to cope with each new day, finding themselves sinking further and further into the quagmire of modern economics with not only no way out, but no way to even express their problem. So frustrating is this process which the author call the Squeeze that the sufferer eventually loses all hope of recovery and begins focusing primarily on a way not to go down without a whimper. The need for what he or she sees as “righteous recognition” becomes the driving force of the individual until he or she perceives a way to publically shout their pain in a voice that cannot be ignored. The greater the pressurized pain, the greater the release, the more public the event and the more suffering it must release.
The wheeling and dealing of the politically and economically powerful have left a great number of people feeling overwhelmingly helpless. Some are watching their futures, their dreams fade and die, some are seeing loved ones die, some are seeing their very selves taken a part piece by piece. And no one is listening to their utterances on the bus, their angry moments at the office or their tearful pleas from the barstool. No one care and no one is doing anything about it.
Sooner or later, they decide they must be the one whose shout restores the sensibility to their world. And the more they think about it, the more it not only makes sense, but seems like the only viable option. And pretty soon it no longer matters how many people hear the shout, how few can grasp its full meaning, but only that someone does it or at least attempts to do it. And eventually they realize that they are the someone who must give forth the shout. They are the only some-one who has the means and the opportunity to sound the warning. And that is such a grand thing to be chosen for, it matter very little that they will most certainly die in the attempt. It’s not about getting people to understand, people will never take the time to understand. It’s about getting their attention, making them look, making them see in such a way that they will know something is very wrong with the world. And perhaps then someone will look into fixing it.

Franklin was an extremely violent serial killer who murdered young prostitutes. But that wasn’t his only secret. He had a friend, a smart friend who helped him cover his tracks. All this friend wanted was to watch sometimes. And have a few pictures which he could share with other smart people like himself. They, in turn, shared stories and pictures with him. Stories and pictures of murders their special friends committed. Franklin didn’t know who these other smart people and their special friends were – but he did know that there were a lot of them.

Denise Washington had been stabbed 22 times in the chest. Carl Peterson sat at his desk in the detective room of the Kankakee Police Station staring at the file and listening to the old Bendix clock. Tick and fucking tock. Tonight it said. “You have no life-You have no life”. And he didn’t. An ex-alcoholic who’d been dumped by the one woman he wanted to marry, Carl was stuck in a low paying job where he had probably already blown any chance for advancement. The Denise Washington file had been dumped on his desk two hours ago by Captain Frailey. “Shouldn’t take too long,” Frailey had said which meant the case was what the detectives called “a three call and dump”. One call to inform the family, another to pull up arrest records and the third to the coroner. The dump part meant just that – if no leads had surfaced in the three calls, dump the file into the unsolved cases cabinet and forget it. This is how the deaths of low-lifes were handled in Kankakee, Illinois. And Denise Washington was a low-life. This is how police departments coped with budget cuts and this is how policemen coped with being overworked – at least this is how it was done in a middle sized town firmly in the shadow of the great city of Chicago only fifty miles to the North. Carl had done his three calls. Actually, since Denise had been found with no ID and had been identified through dental records, Carl didn’t have to talk to the coroner because he already had an extensive report and the records had already been pulled. So really, this was a “one call and dump”, but Carl was having difficulty making the call to the family. He decided he’d tell them in person and was about to grab his coat when he got a sick feeling in his stomach that he might be opening a can of worms.

As more bodies were found and his investigation continued, to say that Carl was in over his head would’ve been the understatement of the year. His first mistake was thinking he was looking for a serial killer when in fact he was looking for people who were very adept at creating them. When Carl’s claustrophobic computer statistician girl friend, Laurie, kept finding ways of proving that coincidences weren’t coincidences at all and that murders in four different states were somehow connected, Carl was able to attract the interest of FBI pro-filer Bob Rathburn. When he and Rathburn track down and kill their man, Carl felt a sense of accomplishment he hadn’t felt at work in years. But then the murders continued. If it wasn’t for Laurie’s computer skills he never would’ve known that the same kinds of killings were now going on in Florida and Baltimore. It is then the unthinkable begins to make sense. Somehow, several different serial killers were connected. Loosely based on a real case, The Kill Switch reveals an ancient secret society which advocates murder as a solution to modern social problems. It’s too bizarre to be real until you realize that it might actually be the truth.
